Today I learned the difference between a blog and a wiki. Each were easily explained by short videos presented on teachertube.com. They were entitled "Blogs in Plain English" and Wikis in Plain English. Obviously created by the same person or company, they described each through example. I feel both can be beneficial to users.
Blogs help one share news, information, or interests with others. This can help people deliver facts, ideas, and opinions to anyone willing to read them. It can even just be a way to vent one's frustrations when no one is around to listen.
Wikis are a way of coordinating information between users. They are helpful when planning activities or events between multiple people. In my case, this could be very helpful when planning trips with my wife and our family and friends.
I can also see both having an educational use. Blogs could help students reflect on the thoughts of their classmates therefore generating new ideas, discussions, and solutions to cooperative problem solving. Wikis on the other hand would be useful during group work. They would allow a group to make a plan as well as help delegate responsibilities to group members.

Hello! I was so happy to read your blog because I had to leave class early for Back to School Night and I did not know that we watched videos on Teacher Tube. Now, I know what to do in order to catch up with the class. Also, I just wanted to comment about the wiki. I used a wiki for the first time in a technology class I took in the summer. We had to do several group assignments and everyone in my group did not live in the same area. The wiki was very helpful. We were able to communicate our progress and post any questions or problems. Have you ever used the wiki or blog in the classroom with your students?
I completely agree with your statement that “Blogs could help students reflect on the thoughts of their classmates therefore generating new ideas, discussions, and solutions to cooperative problem solving”. Also, it helps the teachers at the same time. I think that teacher should learn to use it with their students.
